What's wrong with our existing village hall?

The existing Barcombe village hall dates back to 1885. It has served the village well over the years and is much loved by many. It is used for our children's birthday parties, their playschool, village jumble sales, school fundraising events and much, much more... but it's got some big problems.... and something needs to be done soon, before we lose it.
All the options have been thoroughly explored and the only realistic comclusion is to build a new Barcombe Village Hall. To this end sufficient land has been acquired on the Barcombe Mills Road (next to Barcombe Place) and an application for lottery funding made. Unfortunately, and despite our best efforts, the bid was unsuccessful.
This means that building the much needed village hall requires other sources of funding... and so Barcombe village desperately needs your help. If this important venture is not supported Barcombe could well be without a village hall in the not too distant future. Without a doubt this this would be a tragedy, further reducing 
Barcombe community amenities and the quality of village life in general.
