What's wrong with our existing village hall? |
We are delighted to announce that seven local benefactors have promised to donate a total of £285,000! We are extremely grateful for the generosity of these seven donors and for ensuring that the wonderful community sprit of Barcombe village will continue to thrive. Now we can move on! Our first step is to select the right architect to develop our plans. The appeal favours a sustainable, environmentally friendly building (and this is likely to encourage additional funding!). Please watch this space for further developments and for dates of public consultations.......... Adding these generous donations to the proceeds of the sale of the old hall, we are now well placed to reach our target of £650,000. But we still need your help....... So far, the village has raised £42,000. If we can do the same again, we will be virtually there! A big effort is needed! Please, if you have any spare cash and have a stake in the local community, use the online donation form and sponsor a brick to help the village realise the new village hall. Or how about a spot of fundraising? The Lear family have managed to raise over £700 since September from the sale of logs. There are other events planned too; David Lang will be giving a talk with slides on the 28th March at 7.30p.m. in the old hall (The Red Rice Route – a journey through Bhutan), and there is the possibility of a Summer Ball on Cobb’s Mead. If you can you think of any way you can help to fund raise for the new village hall please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you! |
